My first step in the Philippines

Another 6 weeks of school went by, so last week we went to the Philippines. We flew into Manila from Taipei. the hotel we stayed at was the Sofitel. It was pretty nice. There were a lot of Christmas decorations. When you drive into the hotel there are people who will check under cars for bombs, and dogs who will smell for them. It was pretty crazy, the security. The Sofitel had a pool, so Dai and I went swimming while my parents met up with my Tito Nelson.

The next day we flew to Coron. The airport in Coron is teeny-tiny. After we landed, we drove to a boat that took us to the houseboats that we would be staying in for the next three days. The Paolyn houseboats were amazing. There was a big deck that we could jump off, or flip off. There was a table outside to eat breakfast and dinner. We ended up playing cards on the table. Also,  on the deck, there were chairs for sunbathing, but we used them to look at the many, many stars. At night the sky is beautiful, there are so many stars.

If we didn't want to eat at our houseboat we could go to their restaurant. To get there we either had to swim, kayak, or call for a little boat. We usually called for the boat. If we wanted to eat in our room some nice people would come and deliver it to us. The food was really good, especially the Filipino food. All the employees are really nice, they would help us whenever we needed.

During the day we would go explore on the kayak and go snorkeling. We would go to different lagoons. We had to pay entrance fees because the lagoons are owned by the tribe who lives there, they make sure it stays clean.  There was this one lagoon, Twin lagoon, that had a short rock tunnel that we could swim under. We also went to this other lagoon that had a lot of big starfish. One afternoon, we took a tour of some really good snorkeling places. My favorite place had very vibrant blue coral. We also saw an old shipwreck and a white sand beach.

We were all a bit sad to leave, but there were other places we still had to visit. Paolyn Boathouse website
