From One Side of The World to The Other

Now if you want to do this, go to Taiwan, I gotta warn you it's hot. Humid and hot. Well, it wouldn't
matter that much if you come from the East coast, but if you come from where I live,Lake Tahoe, it feels really hot. You feel the heat right as you get off the plane, also when you get
 off the plane all the craziness starts. First, we had to find out where in the heck we were going,
we just followed everyone else who got off the plane. Second, see a long line, probably going to
wait in it. We had to for SIM cards, COVID tests, and for stuff, I don't know what is. Then we had
 to go through customs, get all 16 or so bags, and get 3 taxis. Sounds hard? It was, also add to
the fact that only me and Dai knew how to speak Chinese. A 10 and 12-year-old navigated a
foreign airport. Me made it though. We got to our apartment, turned on the air conditioning, and
slept for all three days we were quarantined. 




To: Taipei, 2:35pm, United, G8, On Time 


 A 12 hour, mostly sleeping, plane ride 


All 16 or so bags

    Haha.. you guys did great helping us navigating the airport. You forgot to mention about our fancy seats on the airplane.

    ooh my GOSH! That's a lots. I bet you guys forgot to pack me then. It sounds like the movie "Home Alone" Will be a great memory that you will remember for life!!! I start to like it and want to hear (actually read) more.

      misshsiu- thank you for this amazing tip on the smart cards. Actually thank you for preparing the kids on their journey. This is paying off in more ways that we can count. It took a few days of building their confidence but they are really guiding us through this very incredible city and country.

    Made me laugh w your description of how you navigated out of airport …”if you see a line…wait in it”. Sounds like our experience in japan or how to find a good restaurant. So great to read about your experience. Keep writing! Auntie liz

My first step in the Philippines

 Another 6 weeks of school went by, so last week we went to the Philippines. We flew into Manila from Taipei. the hotel we stayed at was the Sofitel. It was pretty nice. There were a lot of Christmas decorations. When you drive into the hotel there are people who will check under cars for bombs, and dogs who will smell for them. It was pretty crazy, the security. The Sofitel had a pool, so Dai and I went swimming while my parents met up with my Tito Nelson.  The next day we flew to Coron. The airport in Coron is teeny-tiny. After we landed, we drove to a boat that took us to the houseboats that we would be staying in for the next three days. The Paolyn houseboats were amazing. There was a big deck that we could jump off, or flip off. There was a table outside to eat breakfast and dinner. We ended up playing cards on the table. Japan is very cold, especially at night. We would know, we got hungry and there wasn't any food in the house. We walked to a mall in freezing weather because the other place we wanted to go to turned out to be closed. We got Raman and were the loudest ones. We had to learn a lot about Japanese etiquette. It's kinda funny, in Taipei we would run into 7-11 for AC not heating.  Ban. K is one subway stop and a bus ride from our apartment.  Ban. K is the mountain that we're going to be skiing at this season. It's small, smaller than Squaw. Since I've been skiing, which is 20ish days, I've only gone one lift out of four. Ban. K has a very good lunch selection. There is Raman, Udon, curry, and even churros, which are my favorite. Much better than the 20-dollar chicken nuggets Squaw has.  Team Bankie is the team me and Dai are joining for the year. Unlike OV Free they specialize in moguls.
